One day, I decided to do something for Kenan, my autistic son. I wanted him to feel extraordinary, unique. Never "less" than others. I wanted him to have confidence in himself, to finally feel accepted. And to be able to live with his difference, with pride.
So, we created Lucky Autist.
And then… something happened.
When people saw his T-shirt, their gazes changed. No pity, no discomfort, but understanding and kindness.
We realized that our slogans changed interactions and made them easier for Kenan. It also made me feel good: on the subway, on the street, at the supermarket, I no longer have to explain. The T-shirt or sweatshirt speaks for me.
I feel good, and so does Kenan. Both of us, proud to be different.
